Charles Leclerc started perfectly at the in Race 2 of the Academy Trophy, followed by Dorian Boccolacci with Benjamin Barnicoat and Vsevolod Gagen on his heels. William Sward, in fifth position is a few tenths behind. Leclerc lost ground in an attack that gave the first position to Boccolacci and allowed the second group to close them. We now had a group of 8 drivers at the front. Behind Sward, in fifth, were Mikel Azcona, Juho Valtanen.
Barnicoat took Boccolacci under braking on the 5th lap and the trio was now complemented by Gagen and other pursuers led by Leclerc. At halfway Aatu Moilanen, in 8th, was fastest. Leclerc closed on Gagen, but the top 3 were still ahead, with a more incisive Boccolacci from the 11th lap. He also attacked under braking at the hairpin on lap 13, and Barnicoat was struggling and in third place behind Gagen. Valtanen took the opportunity to take fourth place from Leclerc.
Barnicoat returned to Boccolacci. There was a big fight between Gagen, Leclerc and Valtanen. Boccolacci won Race 2, 0.290” from Barnicoat who wasn’t very happy. Gagen finished third from Leclerc, Valtanen and Sward. Boccolacci was under weight and Barnicoat took the first step of the podium, Gagen on the second and Leclerc on the third …
